American
Pool Champion To Perform In
Wilmington
The
Orton Pool Room presented Earl
"The Pearl" Strickland and
performed in a trick shot show
and hosted the 2008 Orton Mosconi
Cup on Saturday.
Earl
was recently admitted to the
Billiard Congress of America Hall
of Fame.
Earl
is a multiple winner of the
prestigious Player of the Year
Award, and his career highlights
include five wins at the U.S.
Open Nine-Ball Championships -
more than any other professional
pool player worldwide.
Earl
is the only player to ever win
back-to-back championships at the
WPA World Nine-Ball
Championships. Earl consistently
ranks in the top ten of fans'
favorite players.
Earl,
born in Roseboro, NC, is once
again returning to a pool room
where he got his start as a
teenager. "I would play barefoot
at Orton's back then. The older
players weren't too happy when I
would still beat
them."
The
Orton Pool Room is the oldest
pool room in America.
